Spirit 41 Autodrive Rear Roller - Makes Lawnmowing A Pleasure

Spirit 41 Autodrive Rear Roller – Makes Lawnmowing A Pleasure

Designed, engineered and built to the highest standards and powered by an ultra-dependable 4-stroke Briggs and Stratton 155cc engine unit, this lawnmower just glides along on its long-life rubber-rimmed wheels to give you a superb 16 inch width cut with seven different height-of-cut options that are easily selected using the single lever adjuster. The height will go down as far as 13mm when you want to achieve a really close cut and neatness is further enhanced by both the front-mounted fins and the full width ribbed rear roller, which allows you to get right up next to the edges for perfect looking borders.

The solidity of this machine is assured by the fact that all the key components are attached to the rust-free aluminium frame, which is further protected by the smooth, impact resistant ABS polymer underside lining. This feature also makes grass collection easier and reduces engine noise. On the subject of grass collection, there is a huge 55 litre collection bag, so downtime is kept to a minimum with fewer trips to your dumping area being needed. Incidentally, the collector is made mainly from fabric, so it will fold down for easy storage. Furthermore, it lifts out between the handlebar shafts, so it requires the minimum of effort to remove it for emptying.

The handlebar also folds down to take up less room in your shed, but when it is in use, it is positioned for optimum ergonomics. In plain english, that means it is a joy to work with and walk behind as it feels just right and won’t cause you any excess back or arm strain. And while you’re using the Spirit 41, should you happen to strike any solid objects such as unseen rocks, paving slabs or bits of metal, the friction disc feature will ensure there is no bending of the crankshaft.

Finished in classic green livery, the Hayter Spirit 41 Petrol Autodrive Rear Roller Lawnmower doesn’t just look great, as it also delivers on all its performance promises to give you an effortlessly achieved, perfectly striped lawn you will be proud of.

Hayter Harrier 48 Autodrive With Variable Speed Lawnmower – A True Thoroughbred

For effortless mowing that will leave your medium to large lawn looking perfectly cut and striped, there really is no product on the market to beat the award winning Hayter Harrier 48 Autodrive with Variable Speed Lawnmower.

Hayter Harrier 48 Autodrive with Variable Speed – Lives Up To All Expectations

If you had to pick any of Hayter’s machines that represented the pinnacle of their fifty years’ dedication to designing, engineering and manufacturing genuinely high quality machines, then this one must surely be it. Built to last, this technologically advanced lawnmower incorporates a host of contemporary design features aimed at making your grass cutting activity a true pleasure. Easy to start, powerful, quiet and extremely reliable, it will probably make you actually look forward to mowing your lawn every week. Driving it all is the engine, a mighty 190cc 650-series Briggs and Stratton premium power unit that is rated at a full 5hp, which definitely provides enough grunt to handle even the toughest of tasks.

Starting it is as easy as it gets, as not only does it not need priming, but also the combination of a float-feed carburettor and an extra large diameter rewind starter means you need only the lightest of pulls on the cord to fire it up. Low noise emissions are achieved by an advanced performance muffler and the car engine style air filter of pleated paper combines with an aluminium cylinder lining to ensure the engine runs smoothly and efficiently, giving you many years of trouble-free operation. If there’s one thing the Hayter Harrier 48 Autodrive does offer in spades, it is its flexibility, which gives it the capability to handle all conditions to maximum effect. This is because of its combination of variable speed control of between 1.5 and 3 mph, a full, easily selected seven-stage 13-60mm cutting height availability, a cutting deck that extends beyond the wheelbase and an ABS deck-liner designed to reduce the blade noise whilst optimising the cut and collection performance, so you are assured of superb results whether your grass is long, short, bone dry or damp. It is also fitted with a cutter-bar friction disc, unique to Hayter, which ensures any potential impact damage that may be caused by the blade inadvertently coming into contact with a solid object, such as paving stones or drain covers, is kept to an absolute minimum. In fact, Hayter are so confident about the success of this feature that they now offer a lifetime guarantee against crankshaft bending.

The power drive is managed through the rear roller which has a split differential for exceptional manoeuvrability and is ribbed for the best possible grip at all times. The front wheels are constructed with long life ball bearings, which allow smooth running and the lift-through fabric grass collection bag takes a whole 70 litres of cuttings, meaning fewer stops for emptying. In addition, with space saving in mind, the front handlebar folds down for easier storage in your garden shed. Furthermore, all this engineering excellence is constructed around a die-cast aluminium chassis, so there is no need to worry about corrosion interrupting the many years of mowing you will get from this superb machine.

Hayter Lawnmowers – A Cut Above The Rest

Harrier 56 Autodrive - Built To Last

Hayter’s claim to be “makers of the finest mowers” is, in my opinion, quite correct. I’m now in my fifties and have been mowing lawns since I can remember. I’ve only recently acquired a Hayter lawnmower and don’t know why I didn’t get one a long time ago.

My brother has a huge lawn and has done the same – bought a Hayter lawnmower and not looked back – apart from when he wants to admire the perfect stripes behind him…

There’s something about a Hayter lawnmower that just feels right. It has a reassuring solidity to it that gives the impression it can tackle the toughest jobs and still be ready for more. Mine has also started first time ever since I got it, so reliability is without question.

The Hayter range has a lawnmower to suit all requirements, from the mighty Harrier to the small but very tough Spirit. It all depends on what type of lawn you have and the finish you want. The Harrier has three blade sizes, the 56cm for large lawns, the 48cm for medium to large lawns and the 41cm for small lawns. Each type in the range offers options for electric starting, rear rollers, variable speed control and all have Autodrive, with the Harrier 41 also offering a push version.

The lighter weight Motif and the smaller Spirit complete Hayter’s impressive range of petrol rotary lawnmowers.

Throughout the Hayter lawnmower range, aluminium body construction means there are no worries about corrosion and the tough ABS underdeck makes for better grass collection and quieter operation. Handlebars fold away for easy transport and storage, there are eight cutting heights and generously large, easy to detach, grass collection bags. The lifetime guarantee against crankshaft bending, due to the cutterblade friction disc, also helps put your mind at rest that there will be no major – and potentially expensive – mishaps. This is over and above the manufacturer’s five year guarantee – subject to regular servicing.

I should also mention that if you are lucky enough to have a massive lawn, Hayter also make two ride-on tractor type lawnmowers. A friend of mine has one and says he would never consider buying another brand if he had to get a replacement. Praise indeed.

Hayter lawnmowers are not by any means the cheapest product on the market, but they are definitely money well spent. I’ve bought cheaper in the past and regretted it – with a Hayter, I know it will be a long, long time before I am looking to buy another new lawnmower. You really do get what you pay for.

I got my Hayter lawnmower from MowDIRECT. I’ve bought many gardening products from them and so far they have always lived up to their claim to deliver – free – by the next working day. Their customer service is excellent too, with free technical advice and a Price Guarantee, which is one reason they’ve grown to be the UK’s leading online supplier of garden machinery since they were established in 1999.
